Workshop Location

The workshop will be held at NCAR's Center Green 1 (CG1) building, 3080 Center Green Drive, Boulder, CO, 80301, in the auditorium. The building is at the end of the cul de sac and has outdoor seating in front. Parking is free in any of the adjacent lots or the garage under the building.


Please see the detailed agendaRegistration begins at 8:00 am Tuesday. The workshop will run from 8:30-6:00 Tuesday-Wednesday and 9:00-1:00 Thursday. The talks will be webcast at https://ucarconnect.ucar.edu/live?room=cg1aud.


Coffee will be provided. Lunch will be provided on Tuesday & Wednesday. There will be cocktail receptions onsite Tuesday & Wednesday evenings following the science talks. Our cafeteria opens for breakfast at 7:30 am. 


We have reserved a block of rooms at the at the Best Western Plus Boulder Inn at a rate of $131/night plus tax (wifi, breakfast, parking included). The block will be held until August 23. You will need a car or Uber to get to the venue from this hotel (attendees with space in a rental car or those wanting to share an Uber can gether in the lobby and coordinate rides). Getting to Boulder

Fly into Denver International Airport. Rent a car or book the Green Ride Shuttle. If you are coming directly to the workshop, have the driver take you to the Center Green Campus (Center Green 1) building, 3080 Center Green Drive, Boulder. If you are returning to the airport Thursday after the workshop, you can arrange to be picked up at the same location. You can store your luggage in the building.

Speaker Information

You are strongly encouraged to use your own computer, particularly if you have embedded videos. There will be a Macintosh and PC at the podium if needed. If you wish to use our computer, please go to the podium during the break before your session and upload your talk. Acceptable formats are PowerPoint, Keynote, and PDF. There will be audio if you have embedded videos. Invited talks will be 25 minutes plus 5 minutes for questions. Contributed talks will be 15 minutes plus 5 minutes for questions. We will be collecting PDFs of presentations after the event to link to the website. You may also upload your presentation to the Google Drive. The optimal aspect ratio for presentations on our screens is 4x3.

It is implied that you have given consent for your presentation to be webcast, recorded, and linked to the website after the event. If you do not wish your presentation to be webast or record, please let me know sheryls@ucar.edu.

Posters should be no larger than 48"x48" (122cm x 122cm), either horizontal or vertical. The posters have been numbered, and the posterboards will be labeled sequentially. Poster order and numbers can be found on the poster abstracts page or the poster tab at the bottom of the agenda).

There will be a brief presentation of the posters Wednesday 11:45–12:30 in the auditorium. Each poster presenter will give a talk of at most one minute, strictly enforced, supported by one slide. Please send the slide to sheryls@ucar.edu as a PDF by end of the day Friday Sept 20 - name the file using your number and last name, e.g., 2_shapiro. If you have more than one poster, you may submit one PDF with a page for each slide in the proper order. The presentations will be in the order of the poster numbers. Before the talks, the presenters should line up in the correct order, to ensure efficiency of the presentation.

Posters sessions will take place during the expanded breaks as noted on the agenda.

NCAR Shuttle

There is a free shuttle that runs between the various NCAR campuses. A convenient place to pick up the shuttle is at the Table Mesa Park & Ride or Burger King (28th & Canyon). You can ride to and from the Center Green campus as noted on the shuttle schedule. Hotels in proximity to the shuttle are Hilton Garden Inn, Embassy Suites, and the Marriott Residence Inn on Canyon.
