HAO Colloquium - Science at Solar Eclipses

Speaker: Jay Pasachoff, Williams College

As a veteran of 36 total solar eclipses, Jay Pasachoff will discuss imaging and spectra at the most recent eclipses, including 2017 from Oregon, 2019 and 2020 from Chile/Argentina, and 2021 from an airplane near Antarctica at 41,000 feet and from students and colleagues “on the ice.”  A series of papers in Solar Physics as well as Frontiers and the ApJ includes a variety of results about the solar corona over the solar-activity cycle.  Of course, the imaging changes over the cycle supersedes the dates of Gordon Newkirk’s excellent series of corona configurations.
