It always feels like the end of summer when we say goodbye to our summer REU students. This year, HAO once again hosted six Research Experience for Undergraduate (REU) students, who each conducted an eight-week research project under the supervision of HAO scientists.
The program is run collaboratively with the University of Colorado Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) and is sponsored by the NSF.
This year’s REU students hosted by HAO (with their HAO supervisors in parentheses) were: William Cramer, U. Chicago, IL (Scott McIntosh); Ryan Horton, U. Massachussetts Amherst, MA (Mark Miesch, Nick Featherstone); Mara Johnson-Groh, Gustavus Adolphus College, MN (Alfred de Wijn); Mina Khan, Mount Holyoke College, MA (Barbara Emery, Astrid Maute); Manuel Marcano, Utah State U., UT (Scott McIntosh); and Akshaya Suresh, Yale U., CT (Mausumi Dikpati, Joan Burkepile, Giuliana de Toma).
We wish all six students success with their future studies, and hope to see some of them presenting their research at the Fall AGU meeting.
