Bhishek Manek

Bhishek Manek is a visiting scientist in the High Altitude Observatory (HAO) at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR). Bhishek is from the Applied Mathematics department at the University of California Santa Cruz (UCSC), where he is a Ph.D. candidate under the supervision of Prof. Nic Brummell. Bhishek is working as a Newkirk Fellow at HAO in collaboration with Dr. Yuhong Fan. Bhishek’s research investigates the magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) of the deep solar interior and the emergence of the magnetic flux at the solar surface. Specifically, he uses large-scale computer simulations to understand the transport of magnetic fields from the deep interior of the Sun towards the surface and its eventual emergence at the photosphere to form solar active regions. Other research interests include the theory of magnetic reconnection.
