Comet ISON's missing light

Tuesday, May 24, 2016

The AAS Nova site is featured a recent publication in the AAS journal by Paul Bryans of HAO. In the past sungrazing comets have produced extreme ultraviolet emissions as they passed through the sun's corona.

Steve Tomczyk

Dr. Steven Tomczyk is a Senior Scientist and Section Head in the High Altitude Observatory at the National Center for Atmospheric Research. He has spent his career developing instrumentation for the remote sensing of magnetic and velocity fields on the Sun.

Matthias Rempel

Dr. Matthias Rempel is a Senior Scientist in the High Altitude Observatory at the National Center for Atmospheric Research. His research area is solar physics, with special emphasis on theoretical modeling of the solar interior and the solar photosphere.

Scott McIntosh

Dr. Scott McIntosh is Observatory Director in the High Altitude Observatory at the National Center for Atmospheric Research. His primary focus of research is chromospheric dynamics and understanding the physical connectivity between the Sun's cool surface and its considerably hotter corona.

Michael Knölker

Dr. Michael Knölker is a Senior Scientist Emeritus in the High Altitude Observatory at the National Center for Atmospheric Research specializing in the structure and dynamics of the intermittent magnetic field in the solar atmosphere.
