About the Speaker

Aerospace Engineering master’s degree from Virginia Tech in 2001, Atmospheric Science Ph.D. from University of Maryland College park in 2009 under Dr. Szunyogh and Dr. Kalany with a dissertation on data assimilation of trace gas retrievals in NOAA’s GFS with an LETKF.  From there he went to the Naval Research Lab in DC in 2010 where he’s worked improving the tropospheric to thermospheric data assimilation within the Navy’s various global operational NWP models.  Currently he is PI of two major projects one with the development of an operational assimilation system for the thermosphere and ionosphere the other with improving the weather and aerosol forecasts of the operational mesospheric ESPC atmospheric model for Air Force hypersonic testing.
