Description: Interested in becoming a more effective and confident instructor? This two-part professional development series is designed to help early-career researchers strengthen their teaching through evidence-based strategies, hands-on practice, and constructive peer feedback. Whether you are preparing to teach your first course, applying for faculty positions, or simply looking to improve your communication skills, this workshop provides a supportive environment to develop practical teaching techniques that can be immediately applied in the classroom.
Targeted Attendees: Junior scientists, postdoctoral researchers, and visiting students
Participants will:
Learn evidence-based active-learning and student engagement strategies.
Explore effective classroom management and course design principles.
Practice teaching through short, interactive mini-lessons.
Receive structured feedback from peers and facilitators.
Refine their teaching through an iterative practice-and-feedback process.

Roundtable discussion and Q&A on teaching challenges
Session 2: Microteaching clinics (In-person participants only, but will be streamed online) [Registration deadline: 07/22]

Round 2: Teaching Showcase (07/28, 1-4 pm MT, CG1-2603 & online)
